"Wonder is common among children who come to the world with new eyes and see everything as a miracle, but as we grow older we tend to get habituated to the mystery of things and can end up finding the world dull and uninteresting - boring. Perhaps it is the inabilty to find wonder in the ordinary and the normal that drives people to seek it in the extraordinary and the para-normal, and to experiement with such things as hallucinogenic drugs, pseudo-science and new-age cults. My hope is that if we could see knowledge as 'an unending adventure at the edge of uncertainty' (Jacob Bronowski) rather than a dull catalogue of facts to be swotted up for exams, we could reignite our sense of wonder in the everyday world"
