I am so doing the powerpoint on the platypus for TOK. No one steal.
Seriously. I just realised today that they are like how awesome.
Most people only know platypus as 'the mammal that lays eggs and looks like a joke'. Which is true.
But the platypus is more pro then you.
Firstly, its unique. Its the sole living representative of its family (Ornithorhynchidae) and genus.
Secondly, it has venom. Like OMIGOSH IT IS VENOMOUS.
And finally, this part which I intend on doing the TOK presentation on, the platypus has a sense of electroreception. They locate their prey in part by detecting electric fields generated by muscular contractions. HOW COOL IS THAT.
