Obadiah 4:1
Know the book of the law! Do not be deceived by the lies of others, do not believe in false scriptures. Be wise and not like fools!
This passage really struck me when I read it today while randomly flipping through my Bible. How many of us, if someone were claim that something that they say is biblical truth, we would believe them? For example, one might claim that a certain concept can be found in the Bible, and might even give some verses to substantiate it, but are the verses really saying that or do we need to look into the context? In a more extreme case, perhaps the verses might not even exist and are just quoted for the sake of appearing reliable.
Do we really know the Word of God? If we were to examine ourselves, would we truly be able to say that we can distinguish fact from fiction?
Its a question I believe we all have to consider. Will we be wise, or will we be like fools?
