Philippians 2:5-11

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
  even death on a cross!

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

The entire life of Jesus isn't the story of somebody climbing up a ladder; it's a picture of someone coming down - a series of demotions. To begin with, Jesus was 'in very nature God.' He was at the top of the organizational chart of the universe. But he did not consider this to be 'ground for grasping'; he gave up the right to have things his own way and became a servant. But even angels are servants, so he went lower: he became a human being. He took on flesh and blood, all our needs and limitations. This is the beauty of the incarnation - God coming down. But even on a human level, some people live as kings and celebrities, so Jesus took another demotion: he 'humbled himself' and was born in  a stable as the peasant son of a penniless couple. But even that was not low enough. He kept going down by becoming 'obedient to death.' His ultimate task wasn't some glorious achievement. There was nothing glamorous about death. But his demotion didn't stop there. He went one rung lower: 'even death on a cross.'

The problem with spending your life climbing up the ladder is that you will go right past Jesus, for he's coming down.

And ironically, the moment he looked most like a failure in the world scoring system was his moment of greatest triumph in the eyes of the Father. 'Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name.'

Well that was from the book im reading now, When The Game Is Over It All Goes Back Into The Box (I lost the game). Im pretty sure Gladys read this book when she spoke yesterday because some of the stuff she said are quite similar to the things in here lol. Not just that, during prayer she mentioned about the 'game of life' and how it goes back into the box =p.

Interesting, Philippians 2:5-11 is something that I have seen so often that I admit whenever ODJ or ODB tells me to go there and read it, I just skip it lol (but seriously, in a few months they can do it so many times its not funny). This passage really puts it the passage in a very interesting light though.

There are many things in the world that are just not eternal, how are we going to pursue after the things that matter?

Oh dear. I was posting something here. Then I accidentally got rid of it. Nvm its not important.
