The Living Stone and a Chosen People

As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For in Scripture it says:

“See, I lay a stone in Zion,
a chosen and precious cornerstone,
and the one who trusts in him
will never be put to shame.” [Isaiah 28:16]

Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe,

“The stone the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone,” [Psalm 118:22]

and,

“A stone that causes people to stumble
and a rock that makes them fall.” [Isaiah 8:14]

They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for.

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.

I won't comment on most of that, mostly because I feel really drained right now, just a small portion at the verse 12 at the bottom.

'Live such good lives among the pagan that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us'.

Unfortunately, nowadays people can say things like 'I like Jesus and his teachings, Christianity teaches good values, but I don't like Christians'.

Christians literally means 'little Christs', a name that non Christians had given to the people of the Way during the first century because they behaved in a way that mirror the way Jesus Christ did. They were indeed what we would call Christlike.

To be a Christian is to live out the life of Jesus and his teachings, including the good values that are imparted, so how is it that people in today's society can say things like this?

Evidently, we have lost that. Christians used to be revered. They faced persecution but they kept fighting on, praying for those who persecute them, showing love and kindness. Nowadays, sometimes we're regarded as the snobs, the proud ones, people whom are unloving, when Christ calls us to do the very opposite.

How can we live our lives such that we can truly say we are glorifying Christ our Lord?

I was thinking recently about the difference in standards that we may have when it comes to treating people. To some of our friends, we may exhibit great patience, grace, care and love to them. Perhaps more towards our Church friends than those in our schools.

If we do regard all our friends as important, how is it that we can love some less than others?

God calls us to love as He loved us, and the fact that we are capable of loving some people just goes to show that we can do it. Why can't we do it to others as well?

Its agape love that God calls us towards, and this is something that I perhaps will need to learn

And yes, I lost the game. Why did they call it the game -.-.
