'To clasp the hands in prayer is the beginning of an uprising against the disorder of the world'
- Karl Barth

Prayer seems like a small thing sometimes. I mean sure, we know its communication with God and fundamental to our relationship etc, but between doing things and praying, sometimes the former seems more important than the latter.

I'd suggest that neither is more important than the other, both are necessary, just how the eye and the hand work together to achieve things.

I do think the way Karl Barth puts it is really interesting though. Beginning of an uprising against the disorder of the world. Thats a pretty cool phrase for something which basically means 'making a difference' of course, but really the fundamental part is that it is the  word 'beginning'. The way I see it, it simply means that whatever actions, whatever plans we may have, ultimately it must be birthed by prayer.

That seems to me a rather radical suggestion, and a really powerful one too.

Didnt take any pictures today, but cw and I whipped up some AMAZING cream of mushroom soup today. I dare say its the best soup I ever had in my life. Unfortunately, its also expensive (its like 2 bucks per bowl and thats cost price) and fattening. BUT ITS GOOD. So thats what matters. I'll whip up a few more pots of it soon.

You'll run, and when you run, it feels like you can't go on anymore. Your lungs are pressing hard against your ribcage, your legs feel like they could buckle over any moment, and your heart, your heart is pounding painfully.

But you run on, chasing after the end goal, despite the fact that you are already at a hundred percent. You push harder and discover that you can go hundred and twenty percent. Your body starts to overheat, you know you cant stay in hundred and twenty percent for too long, but you do it, because you must.

Eventually you reach the finish line, you nearly collapse from exhaustion. Yet despite how physically weary you feel, despite the fact that your entire body is aching, it doesnt matter one bit. You finished the race. Through it all, your heart was on fire, but it faithfully keeps pumping, despite the fact that you thought it couldnt anymore. As you finish the race, your heartbeat slowly decreases, its increasingly softening beats affirming you of a job well done.

You couldnt have done it, but you did. And the only reason you did was because you had deeply desired for it.
