Aside from Michael Reeves, I think the other great discovery I've had with Twitch streamers recently is this Sykkuno fella.
He's the opposite of Michael. Michael is this hilarious geek maniac who makes laser babies, "surgery" equipment, and roombas that scream when they hit something. When he plays minecraft on twitch, he plays through the night till 9am the next day trying to destroy the world through making self-replicating robots of doom.
Sykkuno on the other end has got to be one of the most wholesome fellas ever. I mean I get it's an on screen persona and you don't actually know what the person is like for real, but I think you can often still sense it somewhat. He reminds me of one of my colleagues who would never even 'diss' anyone else just for banter. All the streamers have nothing but good things to say about how wholesome this person is. It's just his interactions with people, he's so nice.
When I started watching among us videos because of toast, Sykkuno was one of the regulars I quickly noticed just because of how fun he is. He constantly memes in games by for example standing and jiggling on vents (something only imposters can use), and instead of defending himself talks about how he theoretically could have done the kills. He's also places emphasis on trying to make sure everyone else is enjoying the game, sometimes closing one eye when he knows who the imposter is just to give them a chance to win. Toast does that last bit too and tbh I think they would be really fun people to play with.
Thought he is one of the more niche creators but it seems that he does already have a decent fanbase that proceeded to explode with among us. He now consistently averages 50k viewers a stream, which on and off makes him a top 10 twitch streamer.
Twitch can be pretty toxic at times, even now some of the top streamers are incredibly toxic. So for years, I only went on twitch to (1) watch dota matches, (2) check out what some new popular games are like by watching some people play them. I'll say the past weeks have been interesting to see another side of twitch, the more wholesome and fun content creators. Personalities that you actually follow not because of the game they are playing but just because you just like to watch them.
I've also come to see the appeal of the 'just chatting' category in twitch - always thought it was a silly category because why would you ever go on twitch to watch people just talk. I honestly thought it would be one of those weird place where some female streamers would talk with chat and only despo guys will be there (I remember for awhile it did have that reputation). Turns out, if you genuinely like a personality, sometimes its also nice to just listen to them talk about their lives.
So yea, I'm pretty glad I discovered the good side of twitch. I suppose I've only been watching more competitive games previously so it's usually a good amount of cursing and blaming others, all round generally toxic behavior. Didn't know any particularly compelling personalities before this, but it's nice to see them now!
