“I’d like this to be a work that feels kind.” (ONE)
Finished the final episode of the third and final season today.

Mob psycho is a relatively short story with only 3 seasons of 1 cour each. Finished the manga earlier but the anime is a labour of love by the studio.

I mentioned before season 1 was more comedy focused. Season 2 was more action packed and character driven. Season 3 is the cumulation of everything. The action is limited as it focused more on the growth of the cast. And well, I am always a sucker for well written characters. Also, it perfectly nailed the final arc and the ending which many stories struggle with.

At it's heart, Mob Psycho it is a coming-of-age story about personal development, bonds between people, and learning to love and understand others and yourself. The psychics and all that supernatural stuff is secondary.

ONE's more famous work is One Punch Man, and while I agree OPM has a more universal appeal, for me Mob Psycho is by far the better story. I think it's funky how ONE likes to writes stories of overpowered characters. Both Mob and Saitama are ridiculously strong. While OPM leans more strongly into it's parody of shonen, Mob Psycho focuses more on how strength isn't everything.

Highly recommend this.
